Looking for suggestions for mid-Jan for multi-generations vacay h

Hoping to narrow choices without tons of research on my part.
Wanting a week or so to relax in a warm place with beach and pool.

Two adults coming from St Kitts.
Two oldsters, one adult, one child coming from Baltimore.

We, the oldsters, have been to St Kitts several times and would go again, but
Cost of airfare for four to St Kitts is so high, plus it is a fairly long trip with at least one stop, so we hope to find another nice place for all to meet. The couple who live on St Kitts would enjoy someplace different. We've thought about PR or Miami Beach, but would love other ideas for places with shorter and cheaper flights than St Kitts, yet not too difficult for couple from St Kitts to get to.
I was not impressed with St Thomas, but like the looks of St John. Have not looked into the Turks, Caicos, except pictures look lovely. Thought Barbados was pretty when we were there on a cruise.
We are:
Two 70 year olds who enjoy some walking, a little beach, a little snorkeling, simple food, mostly sitting by pool reading and getting away from cold weather.
One 45 year old who loves the beach, interesting food and hot weather.
One 4 year old who loves a pool, burgers and pasta.
44 year old who enjoys mostly a pub.
43 year old who loves adventure, scuba, great food.

How about Aruba? We love Aruba! Guaranteed warm in January unlike Florida which may or may not be warm.

Palm Beach in Aruba is beautiful with spectacular sunsets every evening.
Great restaurants
Snorkelling
Casino

OP has a difficult task in that he/she wants a destination where the flight from Baltimore is "shorter and cheaper" than flying to SKB. That is going to severely limit OP's choices but also put undo strain on the couple who will be traveling from SKB.

We first need to know how much OP is willing to spend on airfare from BWI. I'm guessing airfare to St. Kitts in January is something in the range of $725 to $750 per person and they will have to connect through either Miami, Charlotte or Atlanta.

Generally speaking, islands like the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Puerto Rico will have the "cheaper" airfares from major US East Coast cities but of those only Puerto Rico will be easy to reach from SKB.

OP might look into St. Martin or Antigua to see if airfare from BWI is within his/her budget as that island is very easy to reach from SKB.

The Turks & Caicos would be time consuming and pricey to reach from SKB at it would involve a travel and a possible overnight stay in MIA so leave that our of the equation.

If OP finds airfare to SKB to be too pricey he/she will probably find airfare to Barbados in the same or even higher price range.

St. Thomas might work as there are sometimes "good" fares from some US cities and while it might take a "connecting flight" itinerary for the couple from SKB. it's a doable flight that probably could be done for a reasonable (but not cheap) cost.

Aruba, as suggested by OceanBreeze1 improbably not a viable option for the St. Kitts couple. For them getting there would be quite difficult and the airfare would be more than flying from BWI to SKB.

Anything in the Grenadines, or St. Vincent, St. Lucia or Grenada would result in higher airfares and longer/complex flight itineraries for all parties so cross them off your list.

RoamsAround,
Thanks so much. That is exactly the kind of info I needed! You are right. Airfare, BWI to SKB is at least $750.00 and up in Jan. To Aruba, it is actually over $1000.00 in mid-Jan, but there were some air/hotel specials there.

I hated the port area in St Thomas, but am open and will see what else it has to offer. Though it would be easiest for everybody, I am not sold on Miami because of possibly cooler weather, so will also look at Antigua and St Martin. Isn't St Martin an island that has experienced even more than average violent crime? I will check it all out.

Looks as if PR may be the best bet.

I would rather we all took a cruise together because it would be a lot cheaper to meet in PR and catch a 7nighter, especially since the four from the US just want warm weather and relaxing, but DD in St Kitts is not sold on that. Maybe if I find an itinerary where she would have time for some scuba diving, and we pay for it, maybe she would re-consider.

Anyway, you've been a huge help. Anyone else with other ideas are still much appreciated.

OB1, did not mean to leave you out. Thank you. While airfare is super high, I saw some good deals on combos hotel/airfare. It does look beautiful.

Don't know where I saw those &1000.00 airfares to Aruba because today I see around &460.00, so will look into possibilities from St Kitts.

You are probably going to have to route your St. Kitts friends back through MIA to reach Aruba and it will probably require an overnight stay in MIA.

There's no flights from SKB to Aruba and none of the nearby airport hubs (Antigua/St. Martin/San Juan))have flights to Aruba.

Yep, right RoamsAround. Besides, Aruba looks kind of arid, not exactly my kind of place. It is getting harder to help whole family get together at a cost we can all afford.

Sass,
Aruba is a scruffy, little island. But the beaches are spectacular. And, the restaurants are very good.

I agree that a cruise makes a lot of sense for your group and the Southern Caribbean (which starts in Puerto Rico) is my favorite. There are many dive excursions from the ship and you can always book independent ones, at the islands you visit. Check into Celebrity - that is my favorite of the big ships in the moderate price range.

I agree with ellenbw. A cruise seems to be the only thing that would be convenient for everyone. Sail out of San Juan. I also agree on the Southern Caribbean route. She can dive several places when the ship docks.

Thanks everyone.
Ellenbe and Schmerl, I totally agree with both of you. The first cruise DH and I did was the Southern Caribbean out of San Juan, on Caribbean Princess. it was so fabulous, we came home and booked a trans-Atlantic for two weeks later, and a Greek island for that fall. I just have to convince DD in St Kitts.

If that doesn't work, it will have to be PR or Florida at this point, but still hoping for something I haven't thought of yet.
