Fellow fodorites! I need ur help finding an extended stay around Scottsdale

Need a personal recommendation for an extended stay for 26 yr. old son who is transferring to Phoenix for a new job...looking for a reasonably priced extended stay for about 3 weeks...maybe four near Scottsdale. Need beginning this weekend. Prefers something near restaurants/nightlife/larger room since he will have to entertain guests on occasion.

Have checked ratings...but would love to hear from my fellow Fodorites - thank you!

Call the Howard Johnson Old Town Scottsdale and talk to the manager, see what she can do for you. The American Executive Inn in Mesa also gets good reviews and is a block from the light rail.
