Good place to stay in Lauterbrunnen

Hi,
I'm planning a smallish European tour for our family of four (two adults and two children (ages 8 and 10), and one of our stops will hopefully be in Lauterbrunnen. I see that cabins are available at the Jungrau Camping but they only do 7 day rental. Could you recommend a suitable place to stay, either chalet or hotel? And, has anyone been for a swim in the outdoor pool..looks great online but would appreciate any opinions from your experience.
Many thanks!

May be you have a look at the official site of Lauterbrunnen.

I was never in the pool, but as it is heated, it can be used from early June until early September (weather permitting). Entry fee for your family: 22 USD/day

What does suitable mean to you headmasterswife? You provide no critieria on which you could expect anyone to suggest a particular place to you. Budget for example.

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Staubbach in Lauterbrunnen and truly enjoyed our stay. We had a balcony with a direct view of the fall. The staff was wonderful and the breakfast was delicious and plentiful. They offer a 4 bedded rom or two connecting rooms at what is a reasonable rate by Swiss standards. Lauterbrunen is a delightful place to stay, with easy connections to the surrounding towns

Another vote for Hotel Staubbach - we stayed in the chalet and loved it. We had a balcony wrapping around 2 sides of the room - it was huge!

We have stayed here twice and love it.

Teresa is a very helpful host. The house is a five minute walk from the train station. Great location. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have.

We have been to Lauterbrunnen a few times. We like to stay in apartments with our two boys. (More space and you can cook some meals, prepare picnic lunches, etc-easier on the budget when in Switzerland) The last time we stayed here:

I would highly recommend the apartment. Close to the train station and shops. Wonderful balcony facing the falls. We are going back for the first time in the winter and unfortunately it isn't available for the time we are there. We are staying in the apartments that michele_d recommended above.
You will love Lauterbrunnen. It is a great base for hikes on both sides of the valley. We never used the pool so can't comment. We spent most of the time hiking.

Wow...huge thanks for the brilliant feedback!
I checked out the apartments, both lovely but unfortunately all booked up for next summer. I will contact Hotel Staubbach...thanks again for sharing your top tips for our visit to Lauterbrunnen.

I thought I would let you know in case you didn't realize Chalet Horner (link from michele_d) has four apartments available. The one bedroom is fully booked, but if you click on the Schilthorn tab (the two bedroom) it has a couple of weeks in July and a week at the end of August. I don't know your dates, but this may work for you.

Ditto recommendations for Hotel Staubbach. We enjoyed seeing the falls and
watching the base jumpers from our balcony.

FWI: I suspect crckwc1 means paragliders, not base jumpers. Although both sports are practiced in the area, paragliding is much more common and much more likely to have been seen from the Hotel Staubbach.

Murren is a great place to watch the para-gliders sailing down through the valley. They look like little pin dots against the massive cliffs. Ah...I love the BO.
