Newark airport to Manhatten
#2
Yes there is, a choice of the train or a bus. My DD and SIL have taken the train no problems at all. There is an Air Train from Newark, that takes you where you can join up with the NJ train that goes into Manhattan. Look up the Newark airport website to more details.

After you pick up your bags, follow the signs to the airtrain/monorail. it will take you out to the station where you'll catch the NJ transit to Penn Station in New York. Do NOT get off at the first stop, as it is Penn Station, New Jersey.
Last week I paid $12.50 for the ride from Penn station (NYC) to Newark. Can't remember if the price is the same for the opposite ride.

Keep in mind that your arrival time at EWR should strongly influence your decision. Buses are vulnerable to considerable traffic delays during the morning and evening rush hours. Trains may be crowded during those periods, but they are not likely to suffer delays.

And frankly = that's not that much money anyway.
