On high-density routes like GVA-LON, "Budget airlines" can be an oxymoron.
Flights that go at superpremium rates some days of the week (like BA to London City at peak business times) are practically given away on Saturdays outside the ski season. And for many people, City's far more convenient than Gatwick or Stansted, so BA to LCY might be cheaper, point to point than Easyjet even at peak times. And, depending how many hedgies want to get home to watch Chelsea, Easyjet to Gatwick might cost more at weekends anyway.
You need to compare prices for where you really want to go to on the day you want to travel, rather than mistakenly trust brand names.
