Best area for a week in Paris w/ 4 year old? Playgrounds?
Hello! I'm wondering if any seasoned parent travelers have a tip on a great neighborhood for kids in Paris? Ideally I'm hoping to find a place in close proximity to a good playground (Luxembourg Gardens?) and a larger grocery store like Monoprix in addition to smaller quaint shops. Easy access to tourist sites is not as important as being a kid friendly area. We normally stay on the Ile St Louis which I love but I know it will be a better experience for all of us if we can have access to some, kind of park or playground close by. I am not familiar with the area near the Luxembourg Gardens, any thoughts? Greatly appreciative of any advice! Also if anyone has rented a great family friendly flat, I'd love to hear about it!

Can't help with a flat but we stayed at a hotel just off Rue De Rennes in the 6th, close to Luxembourg Gardens with our three boys ages 2, 4 and 6, specifically to have the park close by for them. There are several small groceries and a Monoprix in that area, plus lots of restaurants and shopping. We were close to the St. Placide Metro stop. Recommend a visit to the Jardin D'Acclimitation in the Bois de Boulogne, entering by way of the miniature train (Porte Maillot Metro stop). We spent two wonderful days there with our boys and they were in heaven!

You might google San Sulpice, the area around the church (San Sulpice) and a stone's throw from Luxembourg Garden. Relais San Sulpice looks interesting. There is a Monoprix on Rue de Rennes near Blvd. S. Germain.

Don't know the size of your family but assuming from what you've written that it's parents and a child? I recommend www.vrbo.com/58971, in the 6th. Metro stop, bus, shops, cafes, ATMs, Monoprix on rue de Rennes, and not far from Luxembourg. Near St. Sulpice, mentioned above. I stayed there with my daughter and granddaughter, who was 6 at the time. Great place, IMO.
