Munich Walking Tour Suggestions ... please

Hello,
I like to start my visit in a new city with a walking tour and have searched the forum for Munich tour suggestions with little luck. Could someone recommend a tour?
Many thanks,
Jane

Two suggestions come to mind:
(1) Take the hop-on/hop-off bus tour (with guide).. There is a short version that covers the city on both sides of the Isar river; the longer version is an extension of the short tour and includes a visit to the Nymphenburg Palace, the Olympia Park, the BMW complex, a drive along the Leopoldstrasse/Ludwigstrasse boulevard. I did the longer tour and am glad I did. Although I lived for several years in Munich, it introduced me to seveal new and interesting sections of the city.
The busses leave from in front of the Karstadt department store, across from the main entrance to the Hauptbahnhof (Main station). You can get tour brochures in nearly every hotel and on the Internet.
(2) You can take your own loop walk from the Marienplatz to the Marienplatz, covering the center of the old town. From the MP, walk west on the Neuhauser Strasse pedestrian Mall. Shortly after the MP, take a short detour to the right and visit the cathedral. Any of the short side streets will take you there. Then, back on the Neuhausetstrasse follow it through the gate at its west end. . You are now on the Karlsplatz, a major traffic hub. Turn right and follow the street along the park (and trolley tracks) on your left. Turn right at the Brienner Strasse. It takes you to the Odeonsplatz - - with the Theatinerkirche and the Feldherrnhalle memorial. There, to your left, is the beginning of the Ludwigstrasse boulevard. After passing the Feldherrnhalle you come to the corner of the King’s place. Follow the street south alongside the palace to the Maximilianplatz and opera house. Walk a short distance along Maximilianstrasse; it is Munich’s haute couture boulevard and gives you a good view of the Bavarian Parliament, across the Isar River.. Return to the Maximilianplatz, and head south to the Marienplatz. From there take s short walk to the Peterskirche (church) and Viktualienmarkt. You can easily do the whole loop in 2 hours.

The Sandeman's Free Walking Tour (tips only) gets rave reviews on Trip Advisor. My adult children considered doing this tour a couple years ago because they'd heard a lot of good things about it, but said the groups were too big for them. Perhaps the company has addressed that issue since then. http://www.newmunichtours.com/

But there are lots of walking tour companies reviewed on the Munich forum of Trip Advisor. You might want to look there.

We did a Mike's Bike Tour and loved it - it's easy cycling and you cover a lot more of the city than you would on a walking tour - http://www.mikesbiketours.com/munich/

There are lots of different tours listed on Trip Advisor. Walking or bike tours are going to give you your best orientation for the money.

I would avoid the free Sandemann tours, simply because they are "history lite" and the owner is a jerk, with court cases piling up from his mistreatment of the employees, tax evasion, and more. The guides also have to pay for each person who begins their tour.
