Oberoi Hotels in Golden Triangle area - restaurant pricing (ex breakfast)?

I know....I know.....if you have to ask!

I'm starting to look at our itinerary for the northern part of our 10 weeks in India early next year. With the current exchange rates and special offers some of the Oberoi hotels could be contenders for our splurge nights, but we still have to eat (and have a glass of wine). Breakfast is included and lunch will sometimes be elsewhere since we're touring.....could anyone give me an idea of dinner/lunch prices?

Locations we're considering are:

- Agra
- Jaipur
- Ranthambhore
- Udaipur

TIA

Prices will be at Western levels but you can reduce them significantly by ordering vegetarian and by splitting portions (which tend to be large). I see no reason to order wine with Indian food as beer goes so much better with the spiciness (and local beer is very reasonable).

Hope this helps. We ate at Oberoi restaurants in Agra and Jaipur and had no regrets.

I've stayed at all of your choices except the Ranthambore one. Of the other three, I'd choose to splurge in Agra or Udaipur.

Not only does the Agra one have the fantastic views of the Taj and the city (sit out at dusk and watch the pigeon trainers), but it is such an oasis in a tough town. Make sure you take time to enjoy the pool. Food prices are, as Craig said, western levels.

I also love the Udavilas. Gorgeous, lovely pools, great food. We took a cooking class there, and my daughter did yoga.

Another nice luxury tent place in Ranthambore, at a lot less $$ than Oberoi is Sher Bagh

The rates include 3 meals a day, and I notice they now have a pool.

Thanks very much. I will definitely put Oberois on the list of possibilities.

lcuy - the Ranthambhore link you posted is lovely ... thanks. Ranthambhore keeps going on and off my list. The animal sightings sound pretty hit or miss (and I'm not even expecting to see a tiger) -- those days might move to Nepal, which I'm almost certain to add.

Another suggestion for Jaipur: Tree of Life resort. It's a small, boutique hotel with individual villas in a village outside of Jaipur. I'm a year over due in writing a trip repot, but our 4 day stay there last year was the highlight of our India trip. The small private pool within our own walled garden made it difficult to venture out.
