Underwater camera (Which one to buy?)

I reciently visited Cabelas and am interested in purchasing an underwater camera. I know the aqua view name is good. However I noticed that cabalas makes their own brand and I also noticed a model(Fish TV) priced for only $100.00. I'm not looking for anything fancy! Will never use the unit at night and do not ice fish. I just want to use it time to time when fishing a hole or drift fishing to see the bottom and to verify the species on the sonar. Any ideas? I know I always can get a good opinoin on this site for the right choice.

I don't know about any other than the disposable ones. I've used the disposable snorkeling and was surprised at how nice some of the pictures turned out.

You get what you pay for. If you truly want a great underwater camera that takes shots that will come out looking almost professional....look at the Cannon D10. Retail is around $250. It's extremely easy to use, has great zoom, and my underwater photos look like what I saw. All of the disposable cameras are junk, and your pics will look greenish grey with crappy color. Spend a few extra bucks and good a good camera. You won't be sorry. I used the cheap stuff for years, but finally bought the Cannon, and couldn't be happier.

I bought the Pentax Optio underwater digital camera in 2006. I still use it today. Paid $200 on-line. Love it. It's completely outdated now and many models has since replaced it, but its great for the snorkeling and pool photos I use it for. I agree you get what you pay for.

We used to use the Kodak and Fuji disposable underwater cameras. They are horrible. We only got like 3 or 4 decent photos each time we used them.

If you have an iPhone you can get a waterproof case for it. I've seen some good photos that were taken underwater with the iPhone.

Anytime!! I get some incredible shots with my D10, so I am sure you will love the newer version. Enjoy!!

Tips for good shots of the sealife....don't move around to much. Get in a good area in the reef, and let stuff come to you. I just drift along, and point and shoot.

Have a great trip...
