Help - Free stay in Costa Rica with Time share meeting required

Hi all,

I purchased a 5 night all inclusive stay as a "bonus trip" through a company...I had all the information and was planning to book something, but my email was hacked and I lost all the contact information and emails that they had sent to me. I have no idea who I purchased it from and was hoping that someone on this forum would have a suggestion for me. Here are the details that I recall. It was for a 5 night all inclusive stay - Guanacaste area hotel I believe (I know that Liberia was the closest airport). It was a deal that you got the Costa Rica trip as a bonus trip and you could add an extra $150 or something to make it an all inclusive. I have googled everything that I can think of - but no luck. It is similar to the Caribean Cruiseline deals that they have where you get bonus trips to Hilton Head, Branson, MO etc...but I have called them and this is not it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I believe that they extended the use for 3 years after our original trip. The catch with the deal is that you have to attend a time share meeting. Thanks for any thoughts or suggestions!!

LOL, you mean you fell for a timeshare scam. There is nothing 'bonus' about it. You pay the cost of the trip (albiet at a lower cost than you might think it would normally be) and are then forced to attend a timeshare meeting. Most people would avoid that like the plague.

The 'meeting' will take up most of a day and you will end up in a little room with a high pressure salesperson trying to brow beat you into signing up for a timeshare.

I've seen hotel rooms in Sedona, AZ for $25 a night. Only catch, a timeshare meeting. Surveys on the street of a Greek island and in return for your time they give you a 'scratch and win' card. Wonder of wonders, you win a 'free weekend' at a resort. Only catch, a timeshare meeting. A free week on the island of Bora Bora, catch, timeshare. The list is endless and the way of making it seem as if you are getting something for nothing can be quite inventive.

There ain't no free lunch in this world krista. You will NOT get anything you didn't pay for. Like most good scams, they work on one simple principle. Greed, your greed.

So we have a new member to the forum, in a spot of bother because his email has been hacked. A suggestion – take a look at the history in your browser, to see if you can find the web site that you first clicked on to book your holiday.

I hope that this might be helpful.

Unless you paid for cash for it, there should be a listing for the company name on your CC statement. Often you can get more info such as city/state too.

tully had a good point. Can't you just look at your check or credit card info?
