Stop on I15 between LA and Las Vegas
I'll be driving with family from Pasadena to Las Vegas next month on I15
Rather than just driving straight through we were wondering if there are any sights to stop and see along the way. Maybe a certain exit to get off and see something.
Any thoughts

Exit 1 in Nevada (Primm) has a big roller coaster at Buffalo Bill's casino. The world's tallest thermometer in Baker is not even worth getting off the highway for.
Make sure you have enough gas when you leave Pasadena to get to Las Vegas. The cheapest gas in LV that I saw was out Charleston toward Red Rock.

You might stop for lunch in Barstow. We stop at the Train themed McDonalds, but there are more dining options at the same location.
I enjoy the drive from Barstow to Primm. Vast desert landscapes ,mountains and cacti. But there's no place to stop in August.

Nothing worth stopping for in August unless you want lunch. Various fast food options in both Barstow and Baker. Some folks like the Mad Greek in Baker and La Domingo's in Barstow is OK for Mexican.

Well obviously if you are going to Las Vegas you know it is hot.
Check the website for Mojave National Preserve and if you are traveling on a day that the Kelso Depot is open, you can take 40 east and drive thru from Kelbaker Road with a stop off at the Visitor Center on the way to 15.
I would only do this if you get an early start from Pasadena, though!

There's that wacky, eerie, deserted "Rock A Hoola", America's first waterpark at the Newberry Springs exit :

If you like to golf, the Primm Golf Course offers a great driving range with lots of space, two well groomed courses (Desert Course and Lake Course)and a beautiful club house to relax and take in a meal.
There's a log ride at the Buffalo Bill's resort at Primm.
Fashion Outlets of Las Vegas at Primm. http://www.fashionoutletlasvegas.com/
One thing to consider when making the drive from CA to NV is time of day. Fridays can be stop and go traffic from as far as Baker or even Barstow (depending if there is a holiday or special event in Las Vegas). Check traffic conditions: http://traffic.calit2.net/la/traffic.jsp?hwyid=49 and http://here.com/traffic/usa/las-vegas-nv There may be better I15 resources available.

Fill up with gas at Barstow or before. Pack an audio CD/MP3 and music (there's not much to listen to on the journey).
