Berlin- Hop on hop off bus
On our 2014 Europe trip we will have 3 days in Berlin. Now we are not into museums - like seeing some sights, shopping. I'm considering doing the hop on hop off bus as Berlin is such a large city it might be the way to go to see the city. Also there are several companies offering such service so I'm looking for some feedback on the idea and which one to choose.

We did it in Paris and it was great-but then again Paris is a beautiful city not so much Berlin so I am interested in what people think especially if you do it- looking forward to your feedback.

I'm biased as we do not tend to like HoHo buses. We went on the Original Berlin walks instead and enjoyed it. Something to consider.

There are dozens of bike and walking tours that will give you a far better experience than any bus tour can possibly give you. Look on Trip Advisor to read reviews of all the companies and see where the bus tours are listed. Far, far down the list, cause they just aren't that great when compared to seeing a city on the ground.
Go green and either tour by foot or by bike.
I recommend Insider Tours or Jeremy, the Berlin Expert.

Actually, the basic HoHo bus tours in Berlin are as cheap as 10 or 15 euros. While they cannot replace a more in-depth experience like a walking tour, they are a pretty inexpensive way to get a general overview of the city. Which is indeed much more spread out than any other major city in Germany or in Europe.

We did the HoHo Bus tour last October and I thought it was ok since Berlin is so spread out. I usually don't like taking these tours as there is so much wasted time waiting at different stops. We were not there very long so I thought it was worth it. Much prefer the walking tours though.

A general overview tour of Berlin by foot, only costs between 10-12 euro. You see the main highlights in about 4 hours. A bike tour will probably run you 15 euro. Even if you aren't there for very long, a 4 hour tour is going to give you so much more than a bus tour would.
