T&C Grace Bay or Ritz Grand Cayman???

Hi again! I recently posted with a tag just for Turks & Caicos, however I had someone else recommend looking into the Ritz Grand Cayman. It looks beautiful as well, however I am still stuck on Grace Bay. My husband and I are both in our early 30's and love the water, snorkeling, other water sports, relaxing on the beach & by the pool, visiting the spa & gym, great dinners & enjoying drinks outside. We live a pretty busy lifestyle (especially my husband) so getting away to an island is our true "getaway" to relax from the real world.

We are limited on travel dates so we are thinking around March 15th 2014 would be the best time to go.

Should I stick with my original plan and go with Turks & Caicos? Should I look into the Ritz in Grand Cayman? We both have never been to either island so any info and advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!

We have been to both and LOVE Turks & Caicos over the Caymans, Caymans felt like the US ( Burger King, 7-11) Turks has no chains. Turks better beach, water, sand. Better dining etc. The Ritz was nice BUT not the best Ritz we ever stayed in...we felt the service was lacking & the resort too big for our taste. You ask about 7 Stars in the other post- it too is large for my taste. The Somerset is smaller and feels like a private club..we love it!!

Thanks so much Caribzack! I am really leaning towards Turks, just wanted to get some opinions. My husband and I had a stop at Grand Turk on a cruise and loved it and said we needed to plan a trip to Grace Bay area after all the wonderful things we have heard!

We used to go to Grand Cayman all the time when our kids were younger. We called it, "the Miami of the Caribbean." It is pretty Americanized. And unless it's changed, the main part of the Ritz is across a busy street from the beach.

Now we've been going to Turks, and really love it. We've only stayed at The West Bay Club, but enjoy it so much that we wouldn't even look elsewhere. I think it's got one of the best beach fronts on Grace Bay. And the value for what you get- a luxury condo in every sense of the word- is hard to beat.

I like Turks and Caicos too but if you are planning on going in March I would pick Grand Cayman over Turks. Turks is just slightly south of the Bahamas so in march the weather/water might not be warm enough...I would take a look at avg temps before making a decision.

Have to politely disagree with the post above. We visited Turks in early January this year, and found it a bit chilly and very windy, although the wind can happen at other times of the year, too. Anyway, we were all wearing light jackets by mid to late afternoon each day.

If you really do want snorkelliing, Grand Cayman is hard to beat. I would also agree that it might be warmer the further south you go. I have not been to T&C (not for lack of trying!) but have been to Negril early March & found it a little chilly. I guess some years the weather might have been warmer.

I've always had perfect weather too at Turks and Caicos, low 80s, low humidity, sounds quite perfect!

Looking at averages, TCI and Caymans are fairly close to each other, we're talking 1-2 degree difference!

I've gone every January, been in Feb, been in March, always nice!

(I did have 1 bad week in Jan 3 years ago, but weather was bad ENTIRE Caribbean. So much so, Victoria Secret left St. Barts and flew into TCI because at least the sun came out! (although that was a little chilly, it was low 70s)

I have traveled quite a bit and have been to both T&C and Caymans. While it has been some years for each -- Grace Bay is just a really beautiful place -- I would go there over the Caymans. I will echo what another person said -- Caymans felt like the US (South Florida).
