Are there any major sporting events in New York during October ? Love watching all sports? We will be there from 8th - 15th October 2013.

The Knicks and Rangers should have started their seasons by then and there will many minor sporting events as well.

Football (Giants, Jets), Pro (Knicks, Nets) and College Basketball, Hockey (Rangers, Islanders), Soccer, not sure if it's the season at that time of the year (Red Bulls).

Baseball....if the Yankees make the playoffs. Also, college football, but NOT college basketball in October.

You do realize that every major US sport association has its own website and you can find out schedules on each, right?

The Yankees players will all be playing golf by October.

Every weekend either the New York jets or New York giants have a home football game. They play in New Jersey a short distance from New York City. One of them will be playing while you are there. The games are sold out and you will have to buy tickets through stubhub, Craigslist etc.

The NY Rangers will not be in town during that time. Nor will the Knicks be playing any pre-season games there. The renovation of Madison Square Garden will be still be under way.
