Do we need a guide for the Castle District in Prague?
I am travelling to Prague with my girlfriend this Oct. for 4 days. We are in our mid 60's.
Should we hire a private guide to go through the Castle District, or should we take a free tour that is offered by the transfer company?
I am also considering a Viator bus tour to Cesky Kumlov for a day.
I would appreciate your comments.
Thanks,
Molly

you can buy various tickets for different parts of the castle area ,basically a short and a long tour (which can be done over 2 days) you can wander round at your own pace.join an organised tour by all means and you will get a lot out of it but a DIY one is fine. The actual main castle area is free to enter and you can walk through here any time of day or night, ilove it in the early morning before the crowds arrive, you can see many buildings but you won't get access to them., the grounds and gardens are also lovely to walk around.

Regarding the CK tour - if you can fit everything you want to see in Prague into the other 3 days and you'll be in Prague on one of the days the tour is offered, then take the day trip. It will be a very long day. If one of the 3 days includes the arrival day that leaves you 2 days and a partial day in Prague. That's not really enough time.

Thank you for the replies.
We will do the Castle on our own.
We have 3 full days in Prague, so we can spend one day in Cesky Kumlov. But there are so many tour companies that go there, can anyone recommend a good one?
Thanks
Molly
