Maximum Age for Driving Rental Car in France?

Just the first of many questions I will probably be posting about this upcoming family trip (husband, 2 SILs, 1 BIL, et moi) in Oct. All 70 and over, some more than others! Does anyone know if there is a maximum age for driving a rental car in France?
Thanks!

Hi g,

I haven't run into it yet, and I'm over 70.

Have you called AutoEurope?

The rental agencies determine that. Call whichever you're planning to rent from. My dad was driving in France at 80.

Ok, I will call Auto Europe and see what they say. We range from 70-78, and I'm below the median Thanks, Ira and StCirq!

While not in France, I just rented a car in Spain with Auto Europe. They do ask for your age, but for 17 days at $233 US for a compact at 78YO, did not seem to be too bad.

www.carrentals.com does not ask for your age. This company places you with the same auto rental agencies as AE.

Plus there is no up front money like AE. Pay at the counter.

I was looking at both consolidators and found the best price at AE. Have used both.

Many rental companies do have a maximum age cap. However, leases generally have no maximum age for drivers. If you run into problems with rental companies, try leasing before you abandon all hope.
