Four Seasons Nevis or Four Seasons Punta Mita, Mexico?

Our 10 year anniversary is this June. We are trying to decide between the Four Seasons Nevis, West Indies or the Four Seasons Punta Mita, Mexico. We stayed at the Four Seasons Costa Rica in January which was amazing. We would love any & all help. Thank you

It would help if you gave us some idea of what you'd like to see/do while on vacation. Both of those resorts are quite nice (typical Four Seasons Resorts with full amenities) but but the are significantly different in location. Obviously, one is in Mexico (on the Pacific Coast) and the other is in the Caribbean - they are world's apart. Perhaps the biggest difference is 4S Punta Mita is in a much more populated and geographically larger area (think 10,000+ Sq. Miles and 1.2 Million people). 4S, Nevis is on a small island that's only 36 sq. miles in area with a population of about 11,000.

Will you be staying "on resort" for your entire vacation or do you plan to venture off-resort? If the former, it doesn't much matter which one you stay at as you'll get the "Four Seasons" experience no matter which one you choose. If the latter, then you should do some basic research to determine if you want to experience a Mexican or Caribbean culture and all that entails.

My husband and I have stayed at both. As RoamsAround says the locations are very different so I think you need to decide what kind of vacation you want.

We are beach people but we didn't enjoy the beach so much on Nevis so we spent our time at the pool. There are two pools, an adult one and a family (kid) one. The food was very good, although on the expensive side. It's a fairly typical Four Seasons, i.e., great service.

We spent our days on the beach of the Punta Mita Four Seasons. I don't remember even looking at the pool. I was struck, however, at the number of children present at this resort, even though we went during the school year and not close to any holiday. I think most Four Seasons have a lot of small conventions so that's something you might want to check into if that concerns you. The reason we even noticed the number of children is that many of them were not well-behaved, which is not the fault of the resort. Just an fyi.

If you have specific questions I'll try to answer but really, the locations are very different so that's the first thing you need to decide on.

We loved FS in Nevis. The resort is exquisite and the island is true, old school caribbean. We found the food at the resort decent and went off property several times and enjoyed some fabulous meals at restaurants that had incredible atmosphere.

Unlike Sharona, we did enjoy the beach and found it uncrowded and quite beautiful. Sunshines and Lime are typical caribbean beach shacks located a stones throw from FS on Pinney's beach. We enjoyed good food and drink with fellow FS guest and locals alike at these venues.

We plan on returning to this surreal island and highly recommend FS.

Thank you for your responses. We booked the Punta Mita location. Travel time was faster & the reviews on food were better than Nevis. We would love to visit Nevis with our children at some point. Only having 3 full days we decided Punta Mita would be more realistic. It would take all day to get to Nevis. We love to snorkel & think we might be disappointed with the water at Punta Mita. It sounds like both resorts are wonderful, they just offer different things.

Holloway6 - For future reference you won't find any decent snorkeling from any of the beaches on Nevis. The best snorkeling in the area is accessible only by boat but it is only " average" at best. Simply put, no one goes to Nevis for the snorkeling.
