length of time in Mendocino

On a 6 night trip north from San Francisco to encompass Mendocino, Ft. Bragg, Pt. Reyes, Sonomo and Napa and Castiligo how many nights would you spend in Mendocino.? Any suggestions what to do and where to stay>

Thank you.

If you want to go on the Skunk Railroad, you should at least add a day.

You have too many locations, too far apart to do anything meaningful for 6 days.

I'd stay in Calistoga for at least 2 days, and then take the northern route over to Sonoma Valley for 2 days.

Skip Napa. It's become way too commercialized and expensive.

Even Sonoma is expensive for lodging during the summer. Check out Glen Ellen, 10 miles or so north of Sonoma for more afforable lodging.

I did a similar trip a few years ago. I think I spent about 2 days in that area. Mendocino was a lot duller than I expected, actually. I can't recall where I stayed, but I did visit Ft Bragg and Mendocino while in that area for 2 days.

I love Mendocino and could easily spend 3-4 days there...at a minimum 2 days. Its close to Fort Bragg and we have done day trips to Ft. Bragg which seems more like a city albeit a small one. It's gotten a touch touristy over the years, but its a lovely little town to kick back and relax in. The Botantical Gardens are nice to visit. We hike and take gorgeous drives in the area. Several nice State Parks. It has some good restaurants and a few bars but it's definitely not a hotspot for night activity if that's what you are looking for. But it's certainly not "dull."

Some of the wineries in the Napa Valley have rewarding art exhibits. We love to drive the Silverado Trail and have a good meal. Do some research and visit the spots that appeal to you. Since we don't drink and drive, we don't go to those expensive wine tastings (which were free when I was young).

Mendocino is a charming town. We walk the streets, take the easy hike on the beautiful Mendocino headlands, have a snack, and hit the road. We used to stay in a garden suite at the Mendocino Hotel, but our expensive room was down-at-the-heels the last time we stayed there (maybe they have refurbished). There are also lots of B&Bs in Mendocino, if you like B&Bs.
