On a train from Edinburgh To London . . .

Posting from a first class carriage (yes PQ - FIRST class). Just left Darlington and York is next. Had a Brie and beetroot tart, my cousin had the salmon and they are pouring wine like its is water

A group from Dundee is in the same carriage and are doing all sorts of pub quizzes
/games. We placed second in one (out of about 20) so we are pretty cuffed - they were very impressed that a couple of California girls could hold their own . .

Beetroot is on every menu over here these days although usually with goat's cheese. Have a great time!

If you had a BritRail Pass you cousin would travel free - would get a free pass to match yours - at least that's the way it has been - take a local along free type of pass!

Hey PQ - we didn't need no stinkin' pass. We got a deal and our tix cost MUCH less than your beloved BritRail passes.

But at least you must agree how posh first-class is on that train line at least over a Greyhound bus like Standard class where you never would be dining high off the hog!

Thanks janisj for posting. I bought my tickets last week for July and couldn't decide on 1st class or economy. I went with 1st class as I got a great deal. Sounds like I won't regret it.

sounds like first-class janis is on a roll - making tracks to London, gathering steam as she goes.

Europeannovice: No more instalments yet - this was only a teaser report covering the train trip. I'll do a "real" trip report when I get home in about a week.

this was only a teaser report covering the train trip>

seriously how about more about the train trip than just boozing it up - is there a difference between first and second class that is a huge as I have experienced or was first class a waste of money?

You say you got a deal on tickets - what kind of deal and from which site and how much did you pay to go first class Edinburgh to London?

Was the first-class car chock full or as I have always experience or almost always - sometimes discounted first-class tickets are all put in one first-class car that is full - were you in that?

please - more info on the train ride!
