12 days in Australia in Jan/Feb 2014
We are planning a trip to Australia in Jan/Feb. Planning on using 12 days to sight see. Any ideas on an itinerary? Ulura rock is a must for sure. Thanks for any input!!

Welcome to the forum ramplead.
Australia is roughly the size of the United States, so such a broad question won't bring many responses.
Where are you traveling from? What are your interests? Will you have 12 days on the ground, or does that include travel time? Are you interested in tours or independent travel?
Help us help you. Give us something to work with.

Sydney????.... Opera House, Sydney Harbour Bridge, zoo and all our fury and cute Australian animals, catching a ferry, possibly to Manly. Seeing Manly beach and the hordes of folks who have not heard the 'sun smart' message.
Cliché yes. When I moved to Sydney after 35 years I saw all of that and loved it.

12 days would allow Uluru & Sydney comfortably. If you base yourself near the harbour, Opera House, bridge, ferries, NSW Art Gallery & Botanic Gardens are in easy reach. Also, easy access to Blue Mountains by train. If you are thinking of hiring a car, Blue Mts & Kiama (blowholes, coast) just south are good to explore by car.

We will wil be flying into Sydney that will be our base. We will travel to Ulura for only two days max, then back to Sydney.
Can anyone recommend a nice hotel near the harbor? Thanks Susannah for the ideas!
Much appreciate everyones thoughts.

Have a look at www.wotif.com.au for accommodation.
If you are here for a few days, you may like a self catering apartment instead of a hotel room. Quay West is one that comes to mind in the Circular Quay/ Rocks vicinity.
Wotif is a useful resource to see properties, prices & locations. Most of us book direct - avoids paying in advance, booking fees & restrictive cancellation clauses.
Without a budget specification, or knowing your tastes, it's difficult to make specific recommendations. Your "middle of the road" may be $150 or $450.
