Sequester-Air Traffic control - Europe trip - how worried would you be?

A friend and I are flying to Nice in 2 weeks. We are coming from different states and meeting in Philadelphia for a flight to Brussels then to Nice. What I am most concerned about is meeting her. I am coming from a small airport - Harrisburg, Pa. She from Richmond, VA. With the ATC furloughs started, would you be stressed about our plans? I am really trying not to worry but our vacation is only 6 days total including the overnight flight. We agreed that if one doesn't make the Brussels flight, the other would continue on and hope the first could catch up...

If you are really worried, leave a day early and stay overnight in Philadelphia.

If I don't take the first leg of my trip - from Harrisburg to Philadelphia, the rest of my reservation will be cancelled

Maybe I"d be concerned, but from what you said, not so much as in other places. I think the delays are mostly in take-offs in major airports/air corridors, rather than in landings. Since you are both flying from relatively small airports, I would think those delays would not be as likely as a flight FROM Philadelphia. Richmond is not a big airport in the scheme of things.

Maybe watch some flight stats for a few days and see how things go. Right now, it doesn't look like Philadelphia is even experiencing major delays. http://www.flightstats.com/go/Airpor...irportCode=PHL

Thanks Christina. Our flights today appear to be on time. I'll check the track record each day and hope for the best...

While you are at it, why don't you both write your Congresspersons and Senators and explain to them how much you stand to lose while they play games with other people's lives and money.
