Driving to Houston to Austin

Plan to drive up to Austin from Houston next Tuesday for a show at the UT Frank Erwin Center. I prefer to go I-10/ Hwy 71 route as we live south of Houston. We will be arriving in Austin between the 5-6pm timeframe. What is the best route to get to Frank Erwin from Hwy 71 at that time of day? Where should I expect the big delays. Thanks.

Have you tried Google map to get the best route?

Yeah. I takes me off of 71 to 183 and down MLK Blvd. Not sure if that the best during traffic times. Hoping someone in the know might chime in. Thanks

I would go 71 to I-35 to E. 15th st. Might be a little slow at that time of day . .

These directions are a little better. They keep you off the interstate.
