Thermal Holidays in Italy

I will stay in Milan, Padua and Venice at the end of May. I planned to stay there ten days and I would like to dedicate at least two of them to complete relax. I have been told that Northern Italy is rich in hot water springs whihc would be perfect to me.What do you recommend? Is it also possible to sleep inside the thermal baths? Thanks

These are in Tuscany but the thread might offer some help:

Also mention of more northern possibilities in this recent thread; see posts by MilenaM:

There is a fabulous thermal spa in Sirmione on Lake Garda. It's within the walls of the old town and then up tyo the left and through the tunnels.

What about Abano Terme? I have been there once. I thought I would have been all the time in thermal baths, instead I discovered a pleasant city to visit. Then Colli Euganei are very close and you can practice every kind of outdoor activity there. Hope been helpful!

Thank you ekscrunchy for your answer, I agree Tuscany is beautiful, but unfortunately this time I won't have time enough to visit it.

Thank you Rubicund and loumartinez. I checked out your suggestions on the map and it figured out that Abano Terme is very close to Padua, where I am supposed to go. Any suggestion? If I stay in Abano Terme instead than Padua I am going to have troubles to get in the city?

You need a plastic hat on to go in the pools, but no need for budgie smugglers

I second Abano Terme. I stayed at Hotel Ariston Molino which had great pools in and outside. What I liked the most was to get out from water and to reach my room without being forced to dress me again and go out. Zodiac pool is sooo suggestive. I don't know if you have time enough to spend there but Colli Euganei really worth a visit. http://www.aristonmolino.it/

Do you have a car?

Abano Terme for me is a bit of a Veneto Paradise. I stayed at the Hotel Petrarca Terme and the pools were wonderful.

In the area I visited the park of Villa Barbarigo at Valsanzibio, Villa dei Vescovi that had just opened and I simply adored it. A quick train ride took me to the walled town of Monselice. Arqua Petrarca is a lovely place where you could visit Petrach's house. There are a lot of villas in the area and other walled towns.

There are many things to visit in the area. You could stay in Padova and commute to the terme by bus as you like or stay in one of the many hotels in Abano Terme or Montegrotto Terme and do day trips from there.

No need to go to Tuscany - the Euganei Hills are closer to where you will be and they offer plenty to do for a week or so.
