My niece will be in Paris....HELP!!!!

My niece and her friend will be in Paris 4/10

They booked a not so great accomodation because it was cheap

They will cancel, and I am hoping to get them into some place clean, central and pleasant, moderate price, maybe around 100 euros a night?

In searching out advise on this forum as to where to stay, arrondissements 4,5,6 seem the most popular?

They will stay 2 nights in one hotel/B&B, then will travel to Chateau Pierrefonds and stay one night, then back to Paris, so accomodations can be 2 nights at one place, 1 night at another.

ANY suggestions appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what was the place they booked and why was not it so great? If they are young they may well enjoy staying in one of Paris' many youth hotels or hostels where they can meet folks their age from all over the world. And though these type places may be cheap not nearly all are dumps - hotels are isolating - anyway at their presume age I had many a great time in Paris staying in various youth hotels and hostels - don't throw the baby out with the bath water.

They may have more fun in one of Paris' many safe and clean youth hotels - like the AJF youth hotels that are in old townhouses in the Marais - owned by the City of Paris they offer private doubles but cafes - yes pubs on the premises that are nice to mingle with others at night, breakfast, etc.

not so great to an older person may be just what younger folk like!

I thought they were going to stay in hostels?

Just because a hotel isn't in the 4, 5, 6 or 7 arrondissement doesn't mean it's not a good place.

lemme get this right.....they booked a cheap hotel without doing research and they will cancel if they don't find anything better? it's very nice of you to want to do their planning for them but if I don't understand the urgency if their heart's not in this. maybe they should go to New Orleans instead

No. They will cancel if they find something better by their aunt's standards. Get with the program tailsock!

Their on their way from London to Pierrefonds so NO is not on the agenda.

She's started another thread on this topic but still won't reveal the hotel the girls have booked.

I just realized I started another thread, sorry

The one they booked had mention of bedbugs, I realize this may not be true, but to me any possibility is a little un-nerving. also mention of a not so great neighborhood.

They did "research" but they booked the cheapest

They are not going until the 10

They are staying near Pierrefonds one night (booked)

I'm am not looking for something "up to my standards" I am looking for something a little nicer than they booked, some suggestions. A hostel is fine, just looking for a recommended one.

PalenQ, thanks, I will check out AJF youth hotels, yours was the only helpful answer

Adrienne, I don't see why "revealing" where they booked is pertinent.

If they are old enough to travel to Paris, perhaps they should be doing their own research.

<< Adrienne, I don't see why "revealing" where they booked is pertinent. >>

It's only pertinent because you said the area is not "a not so great neighborhood."

We might be sending you to the same neighborhood that you think is not great.

The 11th seems like a good choice for young girls (or boys) on a budget. I don't have any specific hotels to recommend, but you could use venere.com and use the neighborhood, availability and budget in the filters.

I think you are being nice to help.

I answered on the other thread - My son stayed at the Young and Happy Hostel in the 5th, and loved that location, but I can't make any guarantees about cleanliness because that's not my son's priority:

I was just in the 11th with friends (and once stayed there for a month - wow, has it changed!)...Yes, many cool hipsters, maybe slightly older than your niece.

it was over years ago, but I stayed in the Lyon-Mulhouse in the 11th ... in sight of the Bastille commemorative statue I remember...BIG room (by any standings) and big bath (a double with 2 double beds) and really cheap.
