Newport oregon beach access for limited mobility

My mobility is a bit limited, walking OK, but stairs not so easy. In Newport, we are considering Eliz St Inn, the Whaler, and Hallmark. All get decent reviews on TA, but I am concerned because most mention 85 steps to beach. Sounds almost overwhelming. Chose these places because balconies with views are very important. Any personal observations? Thanks.

We like the rooms and family-friendly restaurant at the Hallmark.

A short drive south of the hotel there is a parking lot for Historic Nye Beach. From the parking lot there is a ramp to the sand. That should be perfect for you.

HTTY

PS The rooms at the Elizabeth Street Inn are o.k., but when we stay there I feel like the walls are closing in on me. Perhaps the rooms are not wide enough. As I recall rooms there come with a basic breakfast served in a too-small room. (Perhaps they have upgraded it.)

I've never stayed at the Whaler.

We have had great stays at the Elizabeth Street Inn. Even with four of us in a room, we never felt like it was cramped, FWIW. There is a sitting area with a fireplace near the balcony door, so the rooms are much larger than just having beds and a dresser. We skip breakfast here and instead head over to Cafe Stephanie in Nye Beach.

To get to the beach, yes there are a bunch of stairs, but if you head out of the hotel and take a left, just go down the block and you will enter the Nye Beach area. There is a parking lot there, and you can get right onto the beach there.

The parking lot is much better.

Nye Beach has such great views of the ocean. You don't want to take the stairs. My grandma did it when we stayed at the Vikings years ago, and it ended up being a real mistake.

Thanks so much for the info. Now I won't let access deter me from where I want to stay. Cannot wait to visit.
