Hotel choice help

We have booked the Grand Millenium Sukhumvit for a one week stay in Oct. However I am getting second thoughts now about it as the Pathumwan Princess looks about as nice and its reviews on trip advisor are comparable and its a fair amt. less than the GM. Is it the area that makes the GM more pricey? The properties seem to stack up pretty evenly. Any thoughts? Thanks!

I, personally, would prefer to stay at the GM. I like that area of Sukhumvit. Very easy to walk out the door and find food, night life, and street shopping or mall (terminal 21). I've just booked the Grande Centerpoint apartment hotel at Terminal 21 for the first 3 nts of my April trip. I've not stayed there before, but it is really nice. Not sure how it compares to your GM. Are you using points or something?

No, just cash. There has to be a reason it's more. Sounds like it's the location and the place itself.
Thanks!

Hi Carol,

I'll be curious what you think about Centrepoint at Term 21. I wasn't all that impressed when I stayed there last spring. I felt it was overpriced for what you get. The other CPs that I've stayed at (Silom and one other ???) were nicer & had much larger rooms. I wasn't impressed with the mall or the CP staff either, so maybe that made me more critical. My room was teeny, had no washer, and had no tub. Fab view with floor to ceiling glass, though, and a lovely pool.

I Guess the facilities that they provide makes it more pricey other than that maybe the location has to do with the price aswell.

I must be the only one who likes to split my stay between at least 2 properties!

Location has very little to do with price in the hotel business. While the Princess is very nice, and has one of the most outstanding health clubs in Bangkok, the rooms are pretty average. It's also a lot older (~30 years, I think), although it has been through several major remodels. I also like the location of the Princess, right on top of MBK, so you're handy to a lot of food and shopping. That said, there are a lot more 'nice' restaurants out along Sukhumvit, around the Millennium.

Often ones 1st idea is the best and it appears so again here. Thanks for the replies!
Larry.
