Where to study Spanish in Mexico?
I want to spend some time in Mexico (2 weeks to 2 months) taking Spanish classes. I would like to be in a medium-size city that is not too far from the ocean, is not too touristy, and feels somewhat "European." Does anyone have any suggestions? Comments about Spanish language schools and cheap accommodations would also be appreciated.

I have a friend who runs a Spanish Language school in Playa Del Carmen. I've 'toured' the school and talked to people taking classes, but have not done so myself. They do have a very good reputation.
Yes, Playa Del Carmen can be a bit 'touristy' but half those tourist (if not more) are European, so it does fit that requirement for you, and the beaches are SO nice and beautiful!
The school is called Solexico and they have a web site, so do a search and check it out!

Would recommend Oaxaca. I belive it meets the description of the kind of place you would like to go. I have been to Becari language school there three times. It is inexpensive and they will get you housing with a family. There are also other good language schools like the Instituto Cultural in town. For comparision I have also been to school in Saltillo and Cuernavaca. I like Oaxaca much better and continue to travel there.

A ways from the ocean but Morelia at the Badden-Powell school sounds ideal.
Very sophisticated, architecturally interesting city with great food & lots to do at reasonable prices
Eugenio Cortes the owner is a very nice guy. You have a choice of staying with a local family or in his lovely low cost apartments equipped with WiFi & cable.
