Where to stay in Ottawa for Canada day?

We're planning a trip to Ottawa for Canada Day. Will arrive on June 29th or 30th and depart on July 2nd or 3rd. Location is key, we want to walk to all of the events on Parliament Hill. Budget is up to $350/night and we'll need parking. Party is 2 adults. Suggestions anyone? Thanks!

We stayed at Minto Suites for a recent family wedding in Ottawa.

The hotel was very nice, has an indoor mall underneath and a foodcourt.

The hotel was a 10 minute walk from Parliament Hill.

They even have bikes that they lend out to their guests.

Would definitely stay there again.

We have stayed here twice and loved the location. I could walk safely by myself to shops and the large indoor mall across the streethttp://www.rideaucentre.com/en/Pages/default.aspx and its 1/2 block to Parliament and all the festivities they have there on Canada Day.Parking lot is in front of hotel.

With your budget of up to $350 per night, the place to stay is the historic Chateau Laurier. It is just about as close to Parliament Hill as you can get, and is the classic Ottawa hotel.

Check out Chateau Laurier for specials..Fairmont President's Club..You never know. Starwood (4 Points) also often has specials..Right now we have made resv. for June 7/8/9 on a birth year special.(Gatineau area) 135$ plus your year of birth for 2nd and 3rd nights.. I will have it on my credit card so 135+31+31..not a bad deal!! (except for the additioonal 15% taxes!!!)

The chateau is the cool place and right where the action is. I've stayed at the Westin that's sort of across the street, on Canada day, and been able to watch the fireworks over the parliament buildings. The Westin and the Chateau both have good parking.

I live in the Byward Market area which is the "hub" of Canada Day! Here are my suggestions:

Chateau Laurier (right in the "action")parking is about $15-20.per day

Cartier Hotel (my 2nd choice - as it's down the road from the Chateau but alittle more residential)

Westin

Lord Elgin (across the street from Confederation Park another Canada Day festivies place and Jazz Fest.

The Courtyard Hotel (right in the Byward Market)Dalhousie st. and George St.

Minto Suites (nice but I still find it a little far)

If you want any more info. Just let me know
