CALIFORNIA ROAD TRIP
We are 3 adults from Florida planning our first trip to California the end of July, beginning of August 2013. Possibly 2 more adults and a 13 year old boy may join us. We will have approximately 10-12 days, not counting travel time, and will be renting a car. California is a mighty big state. Can anyone suggest a great driving itinerary?

Hello, geordias7. You're probably new to Fodors, so here are some suggestions.
Be careful when you post since this question is tagged with 4 states that have nothing to do with a trip to California. Also, you posted the same question a couple of hours ago (under California) and you have some suggestions there. Have you looked at that yet?

I'm confused. You say a road trip to CA and then list a bunch of states in the NorthEast.
Are you flying to CA and doing a road trip there?
Or are you driving cross country? And, if the latter, why go so far north before heading west?
Do you have 10 or 12 days IN CA - not a lot for a large state. And what about driving cross country - how many days have you allowed for each direction? And are you just driving straight through - or making any stops on the way?

Assuming a round trip starting in LA. Go up the coast to San Francisco and return to LA via Yosemite and Sequoia National Parks.
Or because of limited time, one way from LA to SF zig-zagging to experience Yosemite and the coast.

Michael: this thread was mis-tagged (the monitors just fixed it)
