Ravenna to Cinque Terre

I am planning to be in Ravenna and would like to get to Cinque Terre (La Spezia).
I will probably be dropping off my car in Ravenna as there are no good roads leading to the western part of Italy - besides having a car in CT is not wise.
So are there trains that I could take?

Sure, you can take a 0902 train and arrive in only 4:38 travel time. But, that is 4 train changes. Good luck !

I would drive it and drop the car in La Spezia.

I looked at the map and there is no direct route.
Have already been to Bologna and other major cities so don't want to have to go again.

Ravenna is rather off the main train lines and, for some reason not quite worked out by us, many routes are running by bus now. I would drive from there to somewhere like Genoa to drop off the car. From Genoa it is easy to go by train all the way down the coast to La Spezia. And a very nice place to stay there is the Locanda Palazzo Cicala.

On another topic, we had an extremely good meal at L'Acciuga Osteria in Ravenna (fabulous fish!)
