Thanksgiving in Santa Fe?

My fiance and I are planning a trip to Santa Fe over Thanksgiving (to escape the challenge of our families). Can anyone offer any suggestions for places in Santa Fe that might be serving Thanksgiving dinner? We've also considered doing some volunteer work for Thanksgiving (the soup kitchen kind of thing), so any ideas on that would be appreciated as well. Thanks for all the great information on the board about Santa Fe - I've gotten some good ideas for restaurants in general and things to do.

Check www.sfreporter.com - they may have some information on volunteering. You might also look at Kitchen Angels http://www.kitchenangels.org.

Many of the high-end Santa Fe restaurants and all the hotels (which in some cases are the same) serve Thanksgiving dinner. The less expensive ones tend to close. If you're a fan of seconds on holidays, Las Fuentes at Bishop's Lodge does a sumptuous buffet. Wherever you decide to dine, reservations are essential. If you want a more inexpensive dinner- Whole Foods prepared food counter has turkey and all the fixings. The local food bank, The Food Depot may have suggestions on where volunteers are needed to serve dinner that day.

I can't add much more than Santafefoodie gave you. You can check OpenTable dot com for restaurant reservations. Not all restaurants are on it but plenty are and if not, call to see if your restaurant of choice is serving that night. As for a traditional turkey and dressing dinner I cannot think of a restaurant that will be that specific. However, most nice restaurants will probably do a southwestern spin on it. La Casa Sena and Anasazi have been wonderful choices for holiday dinners for us in the past.

Santafe.org, the city's official travel site will provide you with hundreds of Santa Fe restaurants along with their contact information. Most of the restaurants will be offering some kind of Thanksgiving dinner/specials, but be sure to call first to confirm. As far as the volunteering is concerned, you can visit http://www.homelessshelterdirectory....%20Fe&state=NM

Enjoy your visit!

Thank you all very much for the input! We'll do a quick trip report when we get back.
