Private Driver/Car Service for Buenos Aires
Has anyone used a private car service for Buenos Aires and if so what's the name of the service and what was the rate? There are lists of them on yahoo, but trying to pick one isn't easy. Thanks in advance. Happy Travels!

I think they expect to be paid in pesos.
Most remise companies are good. Most likely the best bet for arrival to be transferred to your hotel would be to ask the hotel to send you a car.
Before the present big difference between the official exchange and the un official exchange Tienda Leon at the airport was a resets able option now with them unless you have pesos you will have to pay with your credit card and the official rate will be applied and Tienda Leon charges more than remixes companies.
Tienda Leon rates can be find in their web site.google Tienda Leon.

Most of the Remis companie will accept CC or cash in pesos or dollars, etc. Taxi Ezeiza accepts cash only, in either dollars or pesos.
As prices are changing so rapidly, I would suggest checking the websites for current details. I do know that the transport provided by the hotels are generally more costly.

Just used Fred at Silver Star and he couldn't have been more helpful. He picked us up promptly on arrival. On our return our flight from a connecting city was delayed and he managed to help us out last minute when we were in a real pinch. We needed to have some luggage picked up and brought out to the airport as we no longer had time to collect it. He left his appointment. picked it up right away and got it to us fighting Friday night traffic. I will be forever in his debt and would highly recommend him. He has a US phone number for booking. His website is silverstar.com. All details are shown there. If you want to be well cared for give him a call!

First and only post from a new forum member, recommending a certain service, while not saying anything else about his/her trip.
I have seen many such posts over the years and usually suggest taking such recommendations with one (or many) grains of salt.

We just returned from a trip to Buenos Aires and feel privileged to have met Fred from Silver Star Transport Private Car Service (silverstarcar.com) and used his services multiple times during our visit. We have traveled extensively and used private car and driver services in many major cities in the U.S., Europe and Asia, and Fred and his company provided the best of the best of any service we have ever experienced (including services provided by American Express!). Not only did he provide prompt, efficient, safe, impeccable car and driver services, but he was an invaluable local English speaking resource to assist us in navigating the unique Argentine quirks that arose during our stay. We are very private people and have never written a review for any product or service - ever - but felt compelled to do so for this very unique service. We could not imagine not subscribing to the services of Silver Star Car Transport when we return to Buenos Aires.

I am nobody's shill - nor am I in any travel business in Argentina or anywhere. And I do not know uis or dsmil.
But, I do know Fred of SilverStar Car and I have found him to be a very decent, honest and reliable ex-pat gentleman who, with his Argentine wife, runs a respectable business of transportation in and around Buenos Aires.

Another one time poster recommending the same service.
As said above, I "usually suggest taking such recommendations with one (or many) grains of salt."
Obviously, MarnieWDC is a frequent poster whose recommendations I would absolutely trust.
Rastaguytoday: I don't remember having suggested any "associates" at all, now or ever, since I run a one-man non-tourism related business. Every once in a while (very seldom) I suggest researching or getting in touch with certain tourism-related services I feel deserve being mentioned. When should we expect you back in BA, perhaps at one of "you know who"'s apartments?

Fred at http://www.silverstar.com needs no shills. He is obsessive regarding details and punctuality.
I only know him as a close friend here in Buenos Aires (since 2008.)
His cars are amazing and impeccable ...he has the same model Citroen as the French president and one of the few Linc TownCars in Argentina.
He's told me a million stories about what it's like driving for a living here in this crazy Paris of the Palmtrees ...but I was really touched when he said that he'd called the worried mother of one of his passengers just to tell her that her daughter had gotten to her flight on time. He did it out of the goodness of his heart, nothing more.
I don't know anyone who doesn't love Fred and his lovely wife Karina.
If the reviews seem a bit one-sided ...that's just what happens when you're the best.
Try to find a bad review of Fred ...I don't think there is one.

Thank you for the compliment, AV. You are the best ambassador for Argentine Tourism I know, and your confidence is of great value to me and DH (not to mention your help on this Forum and 'that other one' Fred and Mike are also 'good guys' so I like to correct the single poster stigma. Can't wait to see you again.

Av - your associate drove us to San Antonio de Areco, as my sister wanted to go to a guest ranch (the ranch was overrated and overgarching).
Several days later he picked us up and drove us to the BA airport for a flight to Mendoza.
He had a very large white station wagon, that may have been a Ford.
He was polite, professional, not too expensive and his name was not Fred Silver.
Ring a bell?
