Honeymoon Planning: March 2013

My fiancee and I will be tying the knot March 21, 2013. We are both beach lovers and enjoy the carribean. We've been on a cruise to Cozumel and vacation locally in the panhandle of Florida. I've been to Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Cuba, Nicaragua, and Cozumel. We are looking at 7 nights somewhere with a beach. We are not the type that enjoy peace and quiet in the middle of nowhere. We get bored after a day of just sitting on the beach. We want to go to a place that has shopping, golf, casino (maybe), night life, restaurants, etc. We want to have options to do stuff besides sit at the pool or beach. I would prefer a white sandy beach and possibly an all inclusive. Any ideas? I think we will end up at an "Americanized" area and that is ok with us, we like speaking in English. Thanks for your help. Our budget is between $5000-$8000

The budget includes airfare from New Orleans. Also, I would like a private plunge pool.

Resorts with private plunge pools are hard to find. However, most of the Sandals resorts have one. Check their web-site.

The Springs resort in Costa Rica has them also. With that budget it would be my choice. However, it's not AI nor does that area have white sandy beaches.

If you will give up AI and plunge pools, Aruba is exactly what you have described. Tons of restuarant options, things to see and do around the Island, nightlife and casinos. Pureto Rico would be a good option also.

Thank you...based on my wants and research I narrowed it down to Atlantis in Nassau or Aruba. I see that there are some AI in Aruba, do you recommend an AI in Aruba or just go eat around the island? If you had to recommend the top non AI and AI resort what would it be? Thanks in advanced.

I love AI resorts and have been to many including Aruba, but I wouldn't suggest AI there. There are just so many really great restaruants and bars to try in all price ranges and part of the vacation experience is trying as many as you can.

IMHO, the best AI resort would be the RIU or the Occidential on Palm Beach. Non-AI I would go with the Radission or the Hyatt.

March is Spring Break season so expect lots of kids unless you stay at a adult's only property. Look at the Manchebo on Eagle Beach.

I would avoid Atlantis like the plague. Over priced, over hyped Caribbean disney type land for kids. Not a place for a honeymoon.
