New Orleans Restaurants

Will be there this coming week-end. Am getting mixed reports re Antoines, Arnauds, PaulK's, Brennan's, etc. Has anyone dined in the better-known restaurants recently that can give me some recommendations?

With thanks in advance.

We ate at Commanders Palace a couple months ago and really enjoyed our meal there(Sat Brunch).

We are both big seafood fans, so New Orleans is a place that we love. Sometimes, reviews are mixed because people aren't used to the spices or dislike fish/shellfish.

KPaul's is a favorite of ours and we try to get there once a year. Make sure that you have reservations if you are going for dinner or at least do one of their very casual lunches (no reservations required). Arnaud's is another spot that we enjoy and the food is consistently good. Broussard's is fantastic and if the weather is good as for seating in the courtyard. Galatoire's requires a jacket for men at night, but is an experience I love! Enjoy your time there and know that you are bound to find good food and great service almost everywhere you go!

We LOVED Emeril's (the original, didn't try the others), and liked Commander's Palace and Bayona very much. The banana cream pie at Emeril's is worth skipping desserts for a year!

I visited my niece in NO last fall and my favorites were all out of the quarter: Elizabeths, Dante's Kitchen and Cochon. The lesson I learned was that it's definitely a city where you need to plan your meals!

It has been fashionable for many years to look down on Antoine's as stodgy etc. Someone I trust had a wonderful evening there last year, and even the food was good. I like the Bon Ton Cafe (not in the Quarter) and of course Galatoire's is the quintessential NO experience at the higher end of the scale, with perhaps Central Grocery at the lower end of the scale.

You might also check Muriel's. Galatoire's is a must and Bayona is also good. Unfortunately I've never made it to K'Pauls but I'll make it some day!
