We will be going to Paris soon and I know I don't want to take the train into Paris but wonder if there are alternatives besides a taxi??

You could take the Air France or Roissy bus in, I have never done it, depending on where your hotel is you would still have to take a taxi or metro to your hotel once you arrive in Paris as the buses do not go all over. Where is your hotel? Why don't you want to take the RER or taxi( I am asking so I can address your concerns and give you a better answer)

I use Inter-shuttle. Private car and they meet you as you exit
customs area. About the same price as a cab but the meter dorsn't keep running if you hit traffic!

Based on my experience this past weekend, I would recommend a taxi or the train. I have always used a Shuttle service in the past (last trip to Paris 2 years ago)and never had a problem as I have always been picked up outside at a gate near the luggage pick up..however the airports have new rules for security reasons and can no longer do this and instead what ever company you use usually has a designated area.

Problem for me was that the shuttle service (Super Shuttle) had given me directions to an old desk that no longer existed and the info desk could not tell me where the new one was located. I wondered the airport for over an hour (which has multiple terminals and at least five levels) until I stumbled onto them. They advised me they were having a new desk constructed, so that is why they only had a paper sign sitting on a table between two sitting areas near an exit area in a terminal different from the one I landed in and different from the directions given. I then had to wait an hour for a driver to arrive.

I can't tell you how much easier it would have been to either go purchase a train ticket or pay a little extra to get in line at one of the lines for a taxi.

A taxi for me is the way to go, time is valuable, time is gold as the proverb goes. In Paris taxi fare is not cheap but at the end of the day is the right choice for me.

I recommend taking a taxi, also. We were in Paris this past summer for the first time. I, too, debated and even posted here about the best way to get into Paris from CDG. We decided on taking a taxi & we didn't regret it. Our hotel was in the 6th, and the taxi fare plus tip was $55, which we felt was worth it for the convenience of door-to-door service.

We always took shuttles in the past but find now that taxis are the best way to get into the city. That being said, I have used Yellow Shuttle in the past and found them to be reliable and cost friendly. Www.yellowvanshuttle.com

I took a PARIS SHUTTLE last June from CDG to the 6th for about €30. I had to call the service when I arrived. They showed up about 10 minutes later. Two other parties were dropped off at nearby hotels.

Going solo, I thought that price was more reasonable than a taxi. But if your taxi fare would be around €55, as stated above, a taxi for two would be more reasonable.

I used Shuttle Inter last summer based on recommendations from this board. They were on time and no problems.

I have already reserved them for our trip next month. We will have a private shuttle that costs little more than a taxi.

You can take the RER and métro or any number of Air France/Roissy Bus navettes, depending on where you're headed. Or you can try my friend Cyril, who runs a tour/shuttle service of his own - he picked us up in Ménilmontant early yesterday morning and took us to CDG for 50 euro (and it took forever because there was a huge accident on the péripherique).
