Barrea, Italy
Next June, we are spending 3 weeks in France and Italy. Our itinerary takes us from Paris to Florence. We plan on then visiting (in order) Siena, Rome, Barrea, and leaving from Naples. I know Barrea is in L'Aquila province but other than that, finding on public transportation hasn't been easy. Do trains or busses run from Rome directly there? And how about from Barrea to Naples? Any advice would be great. We are traveling with our 8yo (he's a pretty seasoned European traveler) but this trip will test our patience with public transportation. Thanks!

It appears you will have to change buses in Avezzano. ARPA is the bus line and you depart Rome's Tiburtina station (it's a major bus hub/metro/train station in Rome).

FYI - It's easier to bus from Siena to Rome than to train as the train involves changes.

you can take a train to Alfedena-Scontrone , its about 4.5 - 5hr with a transfer. , that is only 12k away, maybe your hotel there can provide pickup.
have you considered renting a car?
