Where are the best places for buying Ceramics in Chianti?

We love the Ceramics we found in Amalfi and Deruta. Some of the hill towns around Montepulciano and Siena, not as much.

What will we find in the Chianti area, did anyone find great shops?

Pep Bizzarrie in Castellina in Chianti. She has some beautiful hand painted ceramics that are very different that those in Deruta. The shop is located in the middle of town, I believe she has a web site and she ships.

Ceramiche Rampini in Radda in Chianti sells their beautiful handmade pieces, from a spoon rest to a full set of dishes. They also have a showroom in Florence.
Their shipments of items w'd purchased arrived quickly and in perfect condition.

I second the recommendation of Rampini. It is outside of Radda in the countryside and they have beautiful pieces, as well as a "seconds" room with lower prices and often invisible defects.

Getting excited, tonight we had Caprese Salad on colorful small square plates we bought in Ravello. Some souvenirs sit lost somewhere, but enjoying the Ceramics at dinner brings back so many memories!

PS drinking Limoncello now, can't wait to go back to Italy!

After visiting her shop on our last couple of visits to Chianti, I finally bought ceramics from Pep Bizzarrie in Castellina this summer. She has bright wonderful pieces and does a fantastic job with the shipping.

Not Chianti, but there are several really nice ceramic shops in Cortona.

Not Chianti, but San Gimignano reminds me of Deruta in the number of ceramic shops. A few were low end, but some were very nice.

Again, not Chianti but we love Arte Creta in Florence. The artist is extremely creative and does beautiful and original ceramics. The shop is located at Via del Proconsolo 63/R, very near the Duomo.

SG has lots of lower level creamic shops, more souvenir quality at high prices for what they offer.

Volterra is famous for its alabaster.
My wife says the best ceramica shops are in San Gim.--other than Deruta or Orvieto.

It is 2 hour drive to Faenza from Radda in Chianti -- which is shorter than the drive to San Gimignano. Faenza is one the truly great ceramics centers of Italy (and Europe). Look up pictures of the designs to see if you like the classic style, You can find them online

San Gimignano has a lot of tourists, to it has a lot of shops selling what tourists like to buy, but San Gimignano is not historically a town for ceramics production. Still, if you are unsure what you want, San Gimignano shops sell things from all over Italy (including from Faenza).
