Down to 2 London hotels. Any advice.

I think I've narrowed my search for a London hotel for next July. They are the Radisson Blu Edwardian Bloomsbury and the Park Plaza Victoria. How is the neighborhood around the Park Plaza?
Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Raymare, I stayed next door to the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge at the Park Plaza County Hall. These hotels are huge and very modern.

However, I was not impressed with the immediate area, although once you cross over the Westminster Bridge you are where it's at.

I prefer the Trafalgar Square area.

Enjoy London...

No idea about the hotels as hotels, but as regards the neighbourhoods:

Bloomsbury: one of my favourite areas of London, but you should be aware this particular hotel is right next to a busy traffic junction. I assume any rooms facing the street are well soundproofed, but you might find it off-putting. But by the same token, public transport links are very good and there are more places to eat and drink than you could work your way through in several months.

Victoria: again, a fairly busy traffic street, with good public transport links, but the street itself is mainly office and business premises at this point. You'd need to walk a bit to find a more residential or visitor-friendly atmosphere, whereas in Bloomsbury you only have to cross the road to Great Russell Street and the little streets off it.

Park Plaza Westminster Bridge: this is in what used to be part of the offices of the former Greater London Council, and it forms the middle of a traffic roundabout on the south side of the river. Again, good public transport links (once you get across the road) but not visually appealing, and not a lot on the doorstep for visitors.

I'd say that it depends on what you want to see and do whilst you are in London.

if you're arriving from Gatwick or otherwise on a train coming into Victoria there might be some point in staying near there, and if you are tied into something near Westminster Bridge, you might opt for that.

otherwise, Bloomsbury would be my choice.

Hi Raymare, I just re-read this post and I now see that you were asking about the Park Plaza Victoria, not the Park Plaza County Hall, so nix my advice. Too many Park Plazas in London!

Glad you decided on Bloomsbury – have a great trip.
