I think your title is too vague. Perhaps you should use Dijon in the title. There's a poster on this board who is from Dijon.
A link to the tour company would be a good idea if you want anyone to take a look and advise, even if they have not used this company.

A tour guide in Laval? It's about as big as a pinhead. It's not even a village, it's a commune. I can't imagine needing a tour guide there. Everything you could ever want to know about it is in the Michelin Guide, other guidebooks, and on the internet.

Points taken thank you. I'm not thrilled at hiring a car as I don't like the thought of driving on the right side of the road when I'm used to driving on the left and I can't drive a manual. It looks like either trying to hire an automatic or taking a taxi. I'm going to Pontmain and Neuvelle. They're a little isolated and I'm travelling alone. I was supposed to go last year but got a new job, so this conversation may be seem like a re-visit to some.

Do you basically want someone to drive you to Pontmain and Neuville (sur Sarthe, I assume)? They aren't that far apart, and Laval is the biggest town in that area (100,000 for the larger area) so I'd contact the tourist office of Laval to see if they can suggest someone. The Mayenne office of tourism would be another possibility.

If you do decide to rent a car, you can make a day or two of driving around the area, which seems to specialize in flowery villages and scenic drives.
