Hi-

I am 26 years old and have a very active life, but due to conflicting schedules and most of my friends being paired off I find myself having to try to figure out a vacation solo. I'm fine with this, but want to go somewhere with other people close to my age who are willing to be open to socializing. The only good lead I have encountered so far has been club med Turks, but I have heard some terrible reviews. I don't need to stay at a 5 star place, but I like a little luxury.

If anyone has feedback or ideas, I'd love to hear them!

Start with when are you going, how long do you want to stay, and where are you located.

Answer those and you might get useful answers.

Maybe you could go someplace and participate in a program with other 20-somethings? Focusing on cooking, wine, language, hiking, etc.

Our daughter did a program in South America last summer, called Ecela. She traveled solo, and stayed in five different cities. She chose home-stays to meet locals, and it worked well for her because each city had a group of similarly aged folks with whom she could choose to socialize. They did bike trips in Mendoza, hiked up Macchu Pichu (sp?), etc.

Traveling solo is fun and you can always meet people with a little effort. Especially on a beach-y type vacation (since you mentioned a Club Med) it's easy to be on your own.

I go solo to Mexico (Cabo, Puerto Vallarta), Hawaii (Waikiki), Jamaica (Negril) and always meet new people if I want to.

We also were happy with STA Travel, which was very helpful when our daughter studied abroad. They have offices in many cities, usually near universities.
