Hotels at Heathrow

We will arrive at Heathrow in the morning and our connecting flight isn't until very early (7:00 A.M) the next day. We would prefer to stay as close to LHR as possible and would like to find a hotel with shuttle service to terminal 5. As I believe all BA flights depart from there. Any suggestions?

Do any of those LHR hotels actually HAVE shuttles? I know sometime ago there was a bus service, otherwise it was a taxi.

My advice from previous experience would be to look at the possibility of using Hotwire or Priceline although there are a couple of those hotels which seem a bit removed from the immediate airport vicinity.

The Sofitel Heathrow is connected to Terminal 5 by a covered walkway. If price is not an issue, you could book there.

I believe all the hotels near Heathrow use the Hotel Hoppa shuttle run by National Express, £4 pp.

I've never used it but many people get great rates by using Priceline bidding for Heathrow hotels.

I've stayed many times at the Radisson Edwardian, the Hilton at Terminal 4 and the Marriott. Prefer the Marriott.

The Hilton terminal 5 is VERY conveinient. It's obviously NOT at Term 5 like to Sofitel BUT it's very close and has a shuttle service. We stayed there last year and loved it. I booked it thru last minute.com ( it was a secret hotel deal- but I knew it was the Hilton as it was listed as in Colnbrook!!) anyway great hotel and have to say fantastic Indian restuarant!!!

You do need to be careful though, not ALL BA flights go from Terminal 5 so I would find that out first and then choose your hotel.

". . . it's very close and has a shuttle service."

Actually, the T5 Hilton doesn't have a 'shuttle'. Like the other off-airport properties, you need the Hoppa or a cab.

Well I would call the hoppa a shuttle service but then we a splitting hairs, THE point is there are transport options aside from very expensive cabs.

www.nationalexpress.com We took the Hoppa bus from the Sheraton Heathrow. There is an 8 minute bus from the Sheraton to terminal 5 that leaves the Sheraton at 4:45am. Arrives at T5 at 4:53am.

Getting to the Sheraton takes about the same amount of time on the bus from T5.

You can just fill in the information on the left hand side of the web site and check the schedule for you travel date.

After getting off BA, we did a R/T on the Hoppa. very easy.

The London Toolkit site has a page listing all Heathrow hotels with links to detailed information on each one, including how to get from the airport to the hotel. Go here: http://tinyurl.com/cw28byf.

I think what nobugs is trying to find out is if there is a Heathrow hotel with a free shuttle, and there is not. But there is a convenient shuttle service that serves all the airport hotels, albeit a pretty expensive one given the short trips.

If you can't get a cheap hotel on Priceline, there is a Ibis hotel that is among the cheaper alternatives, but it's a bit further out, though there's a McDonald's within walking distance if you want fast-food and don't want to eat at the hotel itself. Just be aware that the Ibis is a very basic budget hotel.

The T4 Hilton has a free shuttle from T5

People can ride free on local buses between Heathrow and certain hotels. If a person stays at the one of the following hotels, the bus to take between the hotel and Terminal 5 is #423: Park Inn, Renaissance, Radisson, Marriott Heathrow, Sheraton Skyline, Holiday Inn (Bath Road), Holiday Inn Ariel, Ibis, Arora International, Thistle, Sheraton, Premier Inn T5. The bus runs every 20-30 minutes. (Information from the London Toolkit site I referenced above.)

We stayed at the Premier Inn T5 (not to be confused with the other Premier Inn on Bath Rd) in April and did exactly as TimS described.

The #423 picks up right outside the Premier Inn and we were at T5 quickly. Everyone at our stop was doing the same, so lots of people with luggage.

I am thinking about staying at the Premier Inn for one night before catching a BA flight to SEA. The price is right and it gets good reviews on TA. Any cons from anyone who has stayed there?

@Barb,

We thought it was excellent value for the money, a really nice hotel. Breakfast was nothing to write home about, but lots of food and variety. Hotel staff could not have been better, but service was VERY slow in the restaurant. Now, they did have an unexpected rush on rooms as a flight was delayed and the airlines booked the passengers into the PI, but it sounded like that was a somewhat common occurance, so not sure if that excuse really holds up.

All in all, though, I would highly recommend it and would definitely stay again if I needed to be by the airport.

Very interesting concept, but more than I want to pay for one night.

Are there two different Premier Inns? If so, is there any difference between the two? I would prefer the one closest to the airport, Terminal 5.

From T5, I had suggested the Sheraton Heathrow. Five minutes to the hotel and eight minutes back if you can get an express bus. Otherwise it is about 20 minutes. We used Starwood points for a free night. We did eat at the Sheraton that night. Nothing good to talk about.

@Barb,

Yes, there are two different Premier Inns by Heathrow Airport.

One is called Premier Inn Heathrow Airport Terminal 5 and is very close to Terminal 5 (lol, hence the name) and the one where you can take the #423 bus. It is fairly new, having just opened in March. The other is Premier Inn Heathrow Airport Bath Road - further away.

The confusion comes from that they have similar names and are BOTH on Bath Road. T5 is at 420 Bath Rd, other is at 15 Bath Road.

I found a decent price for the Sofitel at T5 and can't say enough great things about this elegant hotel, very well appointed, and comfortable room. Best location, as you walk out of arrivals, and across from there is the long hallway to the hotel
