Parking / timing - Sarlat market on Wednesdays

We're staying for two weeks in St. Cyprien and want to go to the Sarlat market on Wednesday. (I know it's smaller than the Saturday market, but this works better for our plans.)

Does anyone have a suggestion for the best options for parking? And what time should we arrive to make things easiest? I don't mind paying for parking, and should mention that I'm driving a mini-van and would prefer not to park in a lot where things are extremely cramped.

Thanks so much for any suggestions--

Kathy

If you are staying for two weeks, you presumably are doing your own cooking. I find the Périgueux market to be far superior for food shopping than the Sarlat market, especially on Wednesdays, when the fish vendors are in front of the cathedral. Acquaintances who live near La Rochelle claim that even in that area the fish did not look as good.

As for parking in Sarlat, try the Place des Cordeliers, or if uyll, take the chemin de Desmouret from there and go up the hill to the free parking which is generally less full.

Do you mean you are currently in St Cyprien? If so, this is a crowded time, particularity since the theatre festival is on, taking up some of the spaces.

I would advise that you arrive early, not far off 9. Coming from St Cyprien, rather than going down to the river and coming into Sarlat from the south, take the D25 across country, and come in at the north end. There is parking at the entrance to Sarlat, near the cemetery, but if you can get down towards Centre Ville, head for Parking des Cordeliers, which will almost certainly be full, but go further up the hill to Parking Desmouret. Once there, rather than walking back the way you came, go up to the top of the lot, where there are stairs going down to a narrow street, which will take you right to Place de la Bouquerie (Hotel des Cordeliers, and the top of the market.

Yes, we're here in St. Cyprien now and enjoying ourselves very much.

Thanks Michael and Carlux for the parking suggestions. And salut Kevin!
