Questions for Dayle & Other Moab Experts
Taking my sons to Moab (my second time) in a couple of weeks for hiking and canyoneering. Any recommendations for eating spots from SLC to Moab and once we get to Moab? We pretty much have our itinerary planned, but any other can't miss suggestions from Moab veterans would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

My wife and I had to wait for about 10 minutes for a booth at the Moab Diner http://www.moabdiner.com/ordereze/default.aspx
The food was great and worth the wait. The pasta place that we visited had higher prices and the food was not as good.
There is a fairly good restaurant next to the river in the town of Green River. It is better than the truck stop restaurant.

SLC to Moab is only 4 hours so you should be ok, unless of course you are traveling during a meal hour. I just grab fast food in Price if that is the situation.
In Moab, there are decent places. I usually count on a good burger at Eddy McStiffs or the Moab Brewing company. The pasta places are good for pizza, but necessarily pasta. Good breakfasts can be had in several places.

Hi MRand,
I'm glad you are coming back for another visit!
Like StantonHyde, I don't stop on the way down to Moab so can't say about any restaurants/fast food enroute.
I also like Eddie McStiff's for funky casual with a big variety (complete with pool tables). I like the Moab Brewery and the Peace Garden (I think it's called) rainbow painted building on Main Street has great wraps. Moab Diner is all round good.
Don't care for Pasta Jays. I've eaten there twice and couldn't even eat their food. the pizza place directly acroos the street has fairly good pizza by the slice.
The Slickrock Cafe can be good/bad. Their food is pretty good, but their service is usually incredibly slow and just plain bad.
My favorite is the Desert Cafe. It's in the historical brick home as you enter town. Excellent in every way, but pricey for Moab. You will need reservations and there is outdoor dining if you so choose. That's actually the best option in Moab during summer months.
Have fun!

Thanks Dayle, spirobulldog, StantonHyde, and tomfuller
Yes, Spiro, we're going with Desert Highlights based on our good experience with them my last trip to Moab. Have you taken a trip with them recently?

Ray's Tavern? Is that the place with all the whitewater outfitters tee shirts on the wall?
We went there at the end of our Green River - Desolation Trip. Trip was fantastic, complete with a real, live meteor!

Dayle, I haven't successfully found Desert Cafe. Do you maybe mean Desert Bistro?
I'll add my recommendation for Paradox Pizza in Moab, which I just discovered last week. It's conveniently located right next to the Moab Brewery, in case you were planning to go there but just couldn't stand the commotion.
