Battle of the Bulge sites in Luxembourg

We will have a Sunday in late June (after spending Saturday night near Luxembourg City and before needing to be back in Frankfurt Sunday night) to visit some Battle of the Bulge sites. Has anyone been to any of these: National Museum of Military History in Diekirch, the transborder historical trail near Hoesdorf and Wallendorf (Germany), or the Luxembourg American cemetery in Hamm/Luxembourg?

We are limited in time to Luxembourg sites for this trip. We can’t do the whole trail mentioned above but might walk on it a bit if it is worthwhile. Is the Museum worth a look? Are there other spots to visit instead of or in addition to these?

I've been to the American cemetery, but not the others. The cemetery is a moving, sobering place, and certainly worth a visit for those at all interested in WWII history.

Weather can always be a factor in that part of the world. It might be a good idea to have two plans: one if the weather is ok, another if it's raining.

I agree with Topaz, the American Cemetery in Hamm is a worthwhile visit. The grounds are kept immaculate and it is moving to walk amongst the graves and read the names and date of births/deaths and realize how young these remarkable men really were. It is also worth seeing the grave of General Patton. Per his request he wanted to be buried amongst his fallen troops and his grave is nondescript exactly like those of the enlisted men.

We visited the National Museum of Military History in Diekirch last fall and it was great! It's also a very pretty drive to Diekirch from Luxembourg City. We did the museum in the morning and then stopped the American cemetery in the afternoon. There is also the Patton Museum in Ettelbruck, which is near Diekirch. We didn't visit it because after Sept. 15, it's open only on Sunday afternoons - so I don't know how good it is. But I'd definitely see the Diekirch museum! Have fun!

Thanks, all above! Great feedback and confirmation of plans. This whole trip is relatively last minute, compared to how I usually plan things, and some ideas coming together at the last minute, so thanks!
