Football (soccer) Match in London
I will be visiting London for 4 or 5 days this summer and I thought it would be fun to take in a football match. I can't really afford to see one of the big names play but I thought maybe there were some lesser known teams I could go see. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear them. Thanks!

"Good opportunity for a nap."
Good opportunity for learning what crap bigoted Americans churn out about a sport watched by audiences at least ten times those achieved by the insular tedium the poor Yanks have to settle for at home.

What insular tedium is that, o basher of all things American due to complete and utter ignorance and prejudice? Would that be the Super Bowl, which has 1,000,000,000-plus viewers? Would that be the World Series, which is aired throughout the world? Or is Flanner still p----d off that the colonies rebelled in 1776?

The obvious place to go is the home of cricket, Lords.
http://www.lords.org/
middlesex county cricket club plays there, also some England test matches.
county games should not be too expensive, the test will be and are probably sold out anyway.
good luck!

"Would that be the Super Bowl, which has 1,000,000,000-plus viewers?"
From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Bowl_XLII:
Outside North America, Super Bowl XLII was distributed by the NFL and NFL International. Overall, the game was available to an estimated potential audience of one billion viewers within 223 countries and territories.[43] However, viewing figures outside North America rose only marginally on previous years with an estimated 10 million people tuning in from outside the USA, Canada and Mexico for an overall global audience in the region of 114 million.
"Would that be the World Series, which is aired throughout the world?"
Like where, outside Japan and the Caribbean islands? As compared with the following for cricket in India and Pakistan, say?

It looks as though they're still selling tickets for the Test Matches at the Oval, or Surrey are playing at home there during your time period:

End June, beginning of July, England are playing some one day internationals against their arch rival Australia, with a game at Lord's (north London and THE world home of cricket) and at the Oval (another very famous ground just south of the river nr Westminster).
If you can get tickets, do:
http://ecb.co.uk/tickets/england-hom...ional-tickets/
Otherwise, there should be plenty of County Cricket games going on at Lord's and The Oval.
There are three game formats in county cricket:
LV County Championship, where each game lasts up to 4 days (you need only go to one day, you don't have to buy a ticket for the whole game). Games are normally mid-week and attended by retired people. Easy to get tickets.
CB40: One day game, normally at the weekend
FL t20: short game lasting a couple of hours, sometimes in the evening
You might enjoy a t20 game, as these last only a couple of hours so are pretty fast and exciting (at least in cricket terms).
