Locarno Switzerland
I am planning a trip to Switzerland in June and planning on staying in Locarno for two nights. I am interested in taking the Centravalli Railroad into Stresa then a ferry to the different towns and islands. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions??

Yes, I do have a tip. Actually more than one. First, the Centovalli (notice spelling!) train runs to Domodossola in Italy from where you need to catch another train to Stresa. There's no direct train Locarno - Stresa.
Second, start the day early because island hopping in Lake Maggiore takes time. You'll hardly have enough time to see more than one island (if you allow yourself some time to wander around and actually enjoy the beauty of the islands).
Third, take a boat back to Locarno.

The last boat back to Locarno leaves Isola Bella 4.20 pm / Isola Madre 4.26 pm.

Ascona is a beautiful little town just 10 min. by bus from Locarno. Go there in the evening and enjoy the promanade and atmosphere. There's a nice walk to the harbour as well.
I could also tell you where the nudist beach is but am not sure if you're interested.

There's a nice excursion out of central Locarno. You take a funicular up to the Madonna del Sasso church, then switch to a gondola and finally a chairlift up to the Cardada ski area. Magnificent views of Lago Maggiore and the Alps all the way up.
There are boats directly to the Isole Belle from Locarno.

One tip: sit on the left-hand side of the train. A few years ago, I took the Centrovalli train from Locarno to Domodossola. For no particular reason, I sat on the right-hand side of the train. Shortly after leaving Locarno, I discovered that most of the dramatic scenery could be seen only by people sitting on the left-hand side. By that time, that side of the train was full, and so I missed the best views.
