SWITZERLAND RAIL PASSES
FOUR DAY PASS: Does this pass work on a 4-calendar day or on 4( 24hour/day)?
We will be arriving in Zurich the 23rd of June, Leave Zurich to Berli on the 27th of June.
Transfer tickets: do I have to purchase transfer tockets from the Zurich airpot to Lucerene and vice versa on our departure? I'm ready to purchase the Swiss 4-day pass, I need to know from the fodorite's expertise the above. Thanks a lot.

Have you looked at prices on sbb.ch for individual tickets?

"The Swiss Pass is valid on calendar days, not on 24-hour basis.
Zürich Airport to Lucerne one way in 2nd class is only CHF 27. Doesn't pay off IMO to take one day from the Swiss Pass for that."
Thanks Ingo. Makes life much less complicated. My next question is, since we are travelling when the Swiss Pass is not 2 for 1 price, will it still be worth taking it, as opposed to the transfer ticket that would only give a 50% discount on all rides. Not so sure if the 50% discount includes the special rails that climbs up the mountaind. Thanks I appreciate any input.

It totally depends on which (mountain) train rides you are planning to take. And then the weather is also a factor - makes no sense going up to the mountain tops if its clouded/rainy. The Swiss Pass also offers free access to museums. In case you plan to visit Ballenberg or a castle or two on Lake Thun, this must be taken into consideration.
I guess the Swiss Half Fare Card is most cost effective for you. Please note that the Transfer Ticket only gives you a free ride from/to airport - destination. Not 50% off with the Transfer Ticket.
