If you have a look at the following website www.bahn.de you'll find three trains departing Santa Margherita Ligure on the 29th. Details are:
Depart 4:55am arrive Nice 10:35am with changes in Genoa and Ventimiglia
Depart 5:53am arrive Nice 11:03am with one change in Ventimiglia (38 minute connection time)
Depart 7:39am arrive Nice 12:35pm again with two change of trains
Hope this helps

Also seat61.com/france and seat61.com/italy
It is a piece of cake have done it personally
perhaps 5 times hop the fastest train you
can find SML Genoa to Vetimiglia(border)(Ventimille in french) Trains leave for Nice Ville every 15 minutes you go through Monaco on your way takes3 0 minutes. Then Hop fastest TGV Nice Paris.Regional trains cheaper lots more stops longer fine if time and on a budget though.
Happy Trails!

Just go to Trenitalia.
Correct station names:
Santa Margherita Ligure
Nice Ville
Once you get to Nice you take a shuttle bus (navette) to the Nice airport. It's about 20 minute ride.
One thing to note: Most fast trains skip Santa Margherita Ligure, so you might find it more efficient to take a short taxi ride to Rapallo and catch a train there for a one-seat ride to France, rather than catch your train in Santa Margherita Ligure but then find yourself needing to switch trains in Genoa.

Sorry -- I forgot that the new Trenitalia webste lists the town as S.Margherita Ligure
I just did a quick look and it seems like there are nothing but lousy trains that day.
By the way, are you thinking of leaving the Italian Riviera to go to Nice to catch a flight from Paris to the US the same day?
You really can't rely on the Italian train system like that.
Have you checked into switching your Nice-Paris flight to a Milan-Paris flight or a Genova-Paris flight?

It's a long trip. First you'll need to get to Genoa from S. Margherita Ligure-Portofino then take either direct train to Nice (8.55am or 10.55 am) - latter one is too tight for 4pm at airport (it's another 15-20 min to get there) or switch at Ventimillia to a local TER train http://telechargement.ter-sncf.com/I...m-27-72969.pdf
I think it's better to go to Milan and catch flight to Paris from there; lots of budget airlines (Easyjet, etc) do that route.
For Genoa to Nice see http://www.voyages-sncf.com/
For S. Margherita Ligure-Portofino to Milan or Ventimillia see trenitaila.com

hkto, where you did you find direct trains from Genoa to Nice? I think it's a mistake, since, as far as I know (and TrenItalia website confirms it), currently there is no direct trains to Nice, while mentioned by you 8.55am and 10.55 trains are just domestic Italian InterCity till Ventimiglia and not further, thus you anyway will need to change there for TER train to Nice Ville.
Also a small note regarding tickets: it will be cheaper not to buy direct international ticket S.Margherita Liguria-Nice, but first domestic Italian to Ventimiglia (from 12 EUR in case you purchase online), while afterward just a separate one Ventimiglia-Nice

You are right; they all terminate at Ventimiglia now (but used to be direct as I took one long time ago)

There is a regional train that goes directly from S. Margherita Ligure-Portofino to Ventimiglia, departing at 08:00 and arriving at 12:31. You should be able to catch another regional train that leaves Ventimiglia at 12:47 and arrives at Nice Ville at 13:35. If you miss that train, the next one leaves Ventimiglia at 13:17 and arrives at Nice Ville at 14:03.
If you want to get to the airport earlier, leave S. Margherita Ligure-Portofino at 07:39, connect in Genova, and arrive in Ventimiglia at 11:07. Leave Ventimiglia at 11:47 and arrive in Nice at 12:35.
