Where To Stay in Brussels

My husband and I are staying in Brussels for 3 nights in early April. I am looking for advice on a good location of the city to stay in -- in terms of safety and accessibility to tourist attractions . We don't mind doing a lot of walking.

Also, we are looking for Hotel Recommendations. Has anyone stayed at Hotel Bloom, NH Stephanie, or Le Berger?

Recommendations are welcome!

We have stayed at the NH Stephanie many times. It's very comfortable and I like the location off the Avenue Louise - an easy walk or tram ride to the Sablon, you've got several cafes nearby, it's not as overwhelmingly touristy as the streets surrounding the Grand'Place. Plus you're also with a short tram ride of the excellent restaurants along the Chaussee de Waterloo (NOT the Blvd Waterloo where the Hilton is). The CdW and surrounding streets put your in one of the best moderately priced restaurant streets in Brussels ... something for just about every taste. You're also within a easy stroll of the Chatelain food market.

One note about the hotel, the block it's on slopes, so some of the rooms on the lowest floor are too close to street level, IMO. Ask for a room on a higher floor.

I haven't been to Brussels, but I've researched for a trip there and NH Stephanie was one of two names on my hotel list. The other was the Hotel Atlas- it's in the St Catherine Saint Gery district and all rooms have a bathtub and free wifi. Again, I haven't stayed there myself, but it does seem to get good reviews.

We didn't stay at a hotel during our trip to Belgium last fall but we did stay in Ixelles not too far from NH Stephanie and Le Berger. My trip report describes the general area
http://www.fodors.com/community/euro...etherlands.cfm

We stayed on Rue Souveraine (Opperstraat) and walked easily to major sites like the museum quarter, the Grand Place and the Horta Museum. I think this neighborhood would be more interesting than the area around the Hotel Bloom.

Thank You Everyone! I did look into the Welcome Hotel though there was no availability on our dates. We actually did some more research mainly on B&Bs and opted for a B&B http://www.josaphatpark-bb.be/ which seems to have gotten amazing Trip Advisor Reviews. It's a bit north of the center though the Tram and Bus are within a 5 minute walk. We definitely want to explore all of the different neighborhoods listed above! Vtttraveler - I will take a look at your trip report anyways! - Thanks Again Everyone
