Amsterdam, Germany F1, Prague help
we will be going to this July for 19 days to Amsterdam, Germany, Prague.
I'm not sure the number of days for each city, or we are going the right route, here is what I have come up with. Should we go outside Amsterdam and Prague? We have been to Germany before but only to Munich.
Arrive in Amsterdam 3 days
Cologne 2 days
Heidelberg & Hockenhiem 3 days,
I already have hotel booked in
Heidelberg for the F1 race
Berlin 4 days
Dresden 2 days
Prague - 4 days
and 1 day for traveling back to Amsterdam

Your plan looks just perfect as it stands. You've obviously put some thought into this and done your homework.
Unless there is something specific outside of Amsterdam and/or Prague you've always been dying to see, I would NOT plan on any day trips from them.
3 days in Amsterdam and 4 days in Prague is a good amount of time for seeing the best of what each of them have to offer.
On a totally unsolicited digression, I would like to suggest some accomodations.
In Prague: http://www.7angels.cz/ Ideally located mid-way between Olt Town Square and the Charles Bridge. Incredibly cheap for the location and spaciousness of the room/suites.
In Amsterdam: http://www.sevenbridgeshotel.nl/ A little more upscale that the Prague place but also superb location at the most picturesque canal intersection in the city. We went for the 1 BR flat. Lovely place - lovely owners.

A couple of questions.
Does the three days in Amsterdam include the arrival day? Which effectively makes it two and a half days, with possible jet lag?
If so maybe take a day off Cologne or Praag and add to Amsterdam.
You will need to book a City Night Line train to Amsterdam from Praag if you want an easy, direct journey. Which means sleeping on the train.
Look into flights too.
Either way allow for delays - don't cut it tight to your flight departure.

I assume you are going by train? And if so you are covering a whole lot of ground and you should investigate the Germany-Benelux Railpass which lets you hop on practically any train anytime in Germany, Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg (which could be a novel and neat way back to Amsterdam - going up the Mosel Valley from the Rhine) - fully flexible ticket so if wanting flexibility it would save tons over regular fares - especially the first class option. Even a string of online discounted tickets may be as much or more than the pass, depending on whether you can get them or not - if not and you have to pay full fare sometimes then you could well spend more.
Czech Republic not covered by the fare from German border to Prague from Dresden route is very little and also is the bus from Prague to Nurnberg (part covered by the pass). Anyway check out these sites for oodles of Wunderbar info on German and Benelux and Czech trains and pass prices - http://www.budgeteuropetravel.com/id37.html; www.ricksteves.com and www.seat61.com *good advice on online discounted ticket from www.bahn.de - the German Railways web site which also has schedules for nearly all trains in Europe but only fares for trains involving Germany.

@PalenQ yes, we are going by train, the Germany-Benelux Railpass is great idea. Thanks for the help.
as for my name, I was listening to U2, and couldn't think of anything else at the time, and I've never been to either Dublin lol,.I'm from Toronto!
one more thing, I was talking to my Grandma, and she said we should visit Paris instead of Amsterdam, but I'm still leaning towards Amsterdam, anyone who been to both what did you prefer? Thanks

Though Amsterdam to me is a prettier city by far than Paris and is much more manageable in its size and much more relaxing than Paris which with its obnoxious traffic and smog, etc the average traveler will want to naturally go to Paris than Amsterdam and you will never change their mind. Go to Paris - you have lots of time in life later to go to Amsterdam.
Paris I find tiring - Amsterdam relaxing but Paris is much much more famous...and has things like the Eiffel Tower and Louvre and Notre-Dame and Versailles, things you gram has dreamt about seeing her whole life so mollycoddle her and go there.

Paris and Amsterdam are simply two very different cities.
Timewise, 3 days is fine for A'dam but a bit rushed for Paris.
If you are a young(er) guy, you could find Amsterdam more cool and laid back and people more easy going.
You can still go to Paris when you're old ;-)
But you should check if you can't get an open-jaw flight to Amsterdam or Paris and back from Prague.
